Morning:

    • Suggested trains: The Shri Shakti Express or Vaishno Devi Express are popular choices for this route. Check the train schedules in advance for exact departure times.

  • Afternoon:

    • Onboard experience: Enjoy your train journey with meals and snacks provided. You may want to carry some light refreshments as well for your comfort.

  • Evening/Night:

    • Arrival at Katra: Arrive at Katra Railway Station, the base town for the Vaishno Devi Yatra, late in the evening or night (depending on your train’s schedule).
    • Check-in to your hotel: Upon arrival, check into your pre-booked hotel in Katra to rest for the night. Many hotels offer packages for Vaishno Devi pilgrims with early morning departure arrangements.

    • Darshan at Vaishno Devi Temple: Once you reach the temple, stand in the queue for the Mata Vaishno Devi Darshan. The sanctum sanctorum houses the Holy Pindis of Mata Vaishno Devi. The temple is open 24 hours, but morning and afternoon are ideal for darshan to avoid large crowds.
    • Offer prayers and visit surrounding shrines: After darshan, you can visit Bhairon Temple (a short trek from Vaishno Devi Temple) and other nearby shrines dedicated to various deities.

    • Return to Katra: After the darshan and visiting the temples, begin your descent back to Katra. You can trek down (approximately 9 km) or take the helicopter or pony back.
